History
On the 29th of August 2007 the Penya Chescandinavia supporters fan club was inaugurated, the first and only official penya for Valencia CF in the Nordic countries.
Around twenty Valencia CF fans gathered to see the team in a Champions League play off against the locals Elfsborg IF in Borås, Sweden. They travelled mainly from Norway and Sweden and participated in the scheduled constitutional meeting at the Hotel Scandic. A few hours prior to the match, the act was witnessed by the entire club board, headed by at that time president Juan Bautista Soler, and the Agrupacío de Penyes president Jaume Part. A great number of journalists from Spanish and Swedish media were present to cover the birth of this exotic penya far in northern territory.
Previously, Valencia fans in the Nordic countries did not have a community or place to meet until the Internet made it possible with it's virtual rooms. Already in 2003 there was a Valencia CF section on the sport community SvenskaFans.com which rapidly grew in popularity and branched to Norway too. This community offered an oasis for nordic Valencia fans with articles and referendums from matches, written by fans - for fans. There was a guest book style forum where kins could discuss all matters ché.
During the great year of the Doblete in 2004 the critical mass wasn't ready yet, and the penya-to-be with all it's virtual members missed a golden opportunity to meet in real life, at the UEFA's cup final at the Ullevi stadion in Gothenburg, Sweden. But thank's to the success more and more decided to confess openly as Valencianistas!
As the number of supporters steadily grew the guest book format offered at SvenskaFans.com was not enough to meet the demand. During spring 2006 the forum Foro Chescandinavia was created where there was a possibility to communicate among fans in more complex discussions and live match chats. Right from the start it was intended to be a Scandinavian forum, which united Valencia CF fans from the Nordic countries. Each country on it's own held a smaller fan base, but united we were strong and ready to take the next step. Now discussions on actually creating a real penya really took off.
Said and done, after the constitutional meeting it took a little time to complete the formalities and prepare to become an official penya, certified by the main union for official Valencia CF penyas, the Agrupacio de Penyes Valencianistes.
A couple of months later, on the 22nd of November 2007, the Penya Chescandinavia became an official penya, number 745 in the enrollment list. What was just a dream some months earlier, a fun idea to chat about, was now a reality - we hade managed to create an official supporter fan club for the team in our heart, Valencia Club de Fútbol. We hade created a community to be proud of!
